Lehariya, meaning "waves" in Rajasthani, is a centuries-old tie-dye technique born in the desert city of Jodhpur. Artisans roll fabric diagonally and bind it in tight sections before dyeing, creating rippling stripes that mimic the flow of water and the undulating dunes of the Thar Desert. Traditionally worn during monsoon festivals like Teej and Gangaur as a symbolic celebration of rain in an arid land, Lehariya is more than a print. It's a hand-tied ritual passed down through generations of dyers, where no two waves ever fall the same way.
